Sterling Hospital is one of the few corporate hospitals, having its own Adult Live and Cadaver Kidney transplant unit recognized by the Government of Gujarat. The Renal Transplant Unit exists to provide high quality specialised care.

 
 

The Unit aims to support the patient and their family, around the time of their transplant or other period of illness. The teams working in the Unit believe that all patients should be cared for as equal individuals, and specialist-nursing care is offered to the patients. Care is planned, implemented and evaluated using a systematic approach. All care is based on individual assessment, sound, rationale and when appropriate research exists, it is utilised. The teams working in the Unit help the patients to participate in discussions about their health / illness management and maintain the privacy, respect, confidentiality and honesty. All members of the Transplant Unit work together for the benefit of the patient in a friendly and supportive environment.

The transplant is carried with complete documentation and interrogation of both the recipient and Donor to maintain transparency and accuracy.

The multidisciplinary transplant team comprises of the skilled and experienced team of Nephrologist, Urologist and Anaesthetist working in coordination, to provide quality care to the patient with expert medical and paramedical staff to assist the Consultants.

» Management of Live and Cadaver Kidney transplant.
» Management of complications in post transplant patients.

» Dedicated twin OT with Laminar Air flow specially designed for Organ Transplant.
» Isolated and specially designed areas with all facilities for strict aseptic precautions for Post Transplant Recovery.
» State-of-the-art Dialysis unit well equipped with proficient staff to handle any types of emergencies.
 
     
    Departmental Activities:  
 
» A social worker to counsel the patient and other multidisciplinary support staff of Dietician, Pharmacist and Physiotherapist is constantly available.
» For the Outpatient Care, weekly pre and postoperative kidney transplant patient clinics is held for managing the patient before planning for the transplant.
» Celabration of world donor’s day to promote kidney donation.
» Signing of pledge cards for organ donation.
