It is planned before hand; it is altered according to the likes and dislikes of the patient. For differentiating the food type international color-coding system is used. Colored trays are used as per the specifications and also colored stickers are used on spoon pouches for writing the diet instructions. Discharge diets are given to all the indoor patients a day before discharge.
The diet for each patient is tailor-made. All the modifications are done depending on the biochemical parameters and the clinical condition of the patients, which is closely monitored by the dieticians. The likes and dislikes are also taken care of.
Enteral nutrition for indoor patients is prepared following the hygienic measures under the supervision of the clinical dietician.
Feeding pumps are used in sterling hospital (first time in Gujarat) for providing enteral nutrition in a continuous mode, which in turn provides better compliance to the diet (reduces the aspirated volume and increases tolerance of feeds) and faster recovery, reduces chances of infection and many other benefits. |
